A Hayward Gallery, em Londres, inaugura duas exposições simultâneas que exploram memória e identidade por meio de instalações têxteis monumentais: “Chiharu Shiota: Threads of Life” e “Yin Xiuzhen: Heart to Heart”. As mostras, que ocupam andares diferentes da galeria, apresentam obras imersivas baseadas em objetos cotidianos e roupas usadas, convidando o público a refletir sobre experiências humanas compartilhadas. Em cartaz até 3 de maio de 2026, as exposições fazem parte das celebrações do 75º aniversário do Southbank Centre e respondem à arquitetura brutalista do espaço.
Artistas e curadoria
Chiharu Shiota e Yin Xiuzhen, artistas de gerações e origens distintas, unem-se nesse projeto curado por Yung Ma, com direção de Ralph Rugoff. Shiota, conhecida por suas teias de fios, ocupa o andar superior, enquanto Xiuzhen, com instalações interativas de roupas doadas, domina o inferior. A curadoria destaca estilos artísticos únicos, mas conectados por temas como memória pessoal e coletiva.

Shiota cria teias imersivas de fios que envolvem itens como camas e chaves, simbolizando conexões invisíveis da vida. Xiuzhen apresenta uma nova peça em forma de coração humano, feita de roupas doadas, permitindo interação dos visitantes. Ambas as artistas transformam materiais cotidianos em declarações poéticas sobre transitoriedade e presença humana.
‘This exhibition reflects the often-hidden connections between us, with each thread becoming a trace of our shared existence, weaving visible forms from the invisible threads of life. Through my work, I try to make sense of life and its uncertainties; each installation has grown from personal experiences, such as losing my father, facing death and questioning what it means to be human,’ ‘While we live our lives separately, we are, at the same time, deeply connected. With this exhibition, I want to highlight the marvelous aspects of ordinary existence,’
